Parkinson Association of Northern California
Reflections by PANC Friends
Doc says I have a “disease”. Brain cells die. Neurons quit firing and the body quivers and shrivels.
Radical acceptance invites me to embrace the symptoms of this diagnosis as a friend. However, I won’t use the word “disease”. I choose to be kind to myself and open to the power of self-healing.
I don’t want to give too much power to a negative force.
I choose to envision myself as healing, growing, and connecting.
Getting stronger through nutrition, exercise, work, friendship, love, nature, water, sleep and DREAMS.
In my dreams I see an anchor of Hope. An anchor rooted in a community of equals.
My body is but a shell and my spirit will live forever.
I plan to continue to take care of my beloved body until I pass to the next life. I see myself passing at an old age and in good health.
I make an intention for a happy death when that time comes, may I be at peace. I have control, but not total control. The universe joins me as co-creator. I stand on the shoulders of those that have gone before me.
I may be a little shaky, but I am not afraid.
